sigh!

oh to be able to wear diamonds and pearls and cocktail dresses ALL DAY LONG! (only if they were wonderfully comfortable)

and be able to smoke without getting lung cancer. . .

table talk

i've never been one of those people who can 100% get behind cloth napkins. i understand the "green" part of it and the classiness of cloth. but, honestly, i find it really gross to have to handle other peoples messy food bits. plus although i know from a realistic (non-crazy) standpoint, modern-day washing machines are wonderful at cleaning and sanitizing all kinds of cloth, but part of me feels like maybe cloth napkins never get clean.

BUT . . . even though i can't fully get behind these cloth napkin things, i tend to loooove napkin rings. (i usually love all things miniature, but some napkin rings are just too cute) like this one from jonathan adler.

want, need, love

i've always wanted a large dressing room. i love my clothes, shoes, and accessories and would love to give them a big happy home with beautiful wallpaper and shelves.

i love candy

I think men are very pretty to look at. i can't help. i am happily married, but there are just some gorgeous looking pieces of meat out there in hollywood right now, that i just can't ignore.

Ryan Reynolds: gorgeous and funny. he also has great taste in women--married scarlet johanssen and dated alanis morrisette--what woman my age does not have hardcore memories associated with jagged little pill.

Henry Cavill--i don't know if he is really well known, but i have been watching re-runs of the tudors on showtime. he is one of the supporting actors and is just beautiful.

John Krasinski--i know a lot of people don't "get" the office, but i L-O-V-E it! there are very few shows on network tv that i can get behind, but this is one of them. john isn't typical, expected pretty, but his character makes him so loveable and if you're living in a dream world--a perfect boyfriend.
and, of course, brad pitt. i know he is sooooo overdone, haha, but i'd still do him!

penn state

penn state is my alma mater. i grew up in pennsylvania and was absolutely thrilled to be accepted into the university park campus--the main campus. i attended for 4 1/2 years--mainly because i did not want to leave. on top of it, i met j there and we were married there 4 years later. j is by far the biggest psu fan i know and possibly in the united states.

joe paterno, our school's football coach, spoke in the lehigh valley this week.

joe is an inescapable legend in pennsylvania--even if you don't like penn state and all that it stands for--there is something about joe that invokes a sense of family and inclusiveness that i have found in very few places since my college years. he puts on a great show--speaking and on the football field. he is a little old italian man who cracks jokes and has as many stories to tell as any grandfather.

oh yeah, and that's me in the background. my shirt is actually pretty cool, but it looks like it's choking me!

j. crew

love all of it

woooo hooooo

the weekend is finally approaching--i can see it out there on the horizon. i'm pretty excited for a whole lot of reasons. first, i am pretty much sticking close to home. j and i are going to build a raised garden bed/box for our veggies. this project is a long time coming! i'm going to make

strawberry gelato (minus the chocolate cookies)

on sunday, we are going to the chocolate capital of the world--hershey, pa, to see coldplay in concert.

the rest of the weekend is a lovely open book--just the way i like it!

summer attire

so normally, i find that i'm a little too old for free people's style. it's all young, thin artsy chicks wearing clothes that look like they were picked out at the salvation army and styled by a homeless person. But then instead of selling the clothes at "salvation army" prices, they mark them up about 200%!!! but lately, i'm just loving this drapey, soft look--very flash dance, but so forgiving after a few beers and slices of pizza.

i just envision a quiet summer evening with Joel, a picnic in a meadow and me in my lovely drapey pastel shirt.

still don't think i want to pay $100 for a shirt though!

yum v 2.0

Paul Rudd in GQ

he is just too cute--plus i love the pink puppies!! although i could never ever ever do that to a dog. it is kind of like torture.

yum!

i have an odd cupcake obsession. they are somehow more perfect than a cake--just the right size. if only they weren't soooo bad for me. Martha Stewart did an article a few months ago and i made these

for my dad's birthday. These are up next, i think! (yum!)

and, thanks to my co-working, Maddy, for finding this cute cooking site. if i only had the talent and organization to do a cooking blog. but there are some fun recipes . . .

artsy fartsy

i have recently become obsessed with 20X200--a great little site that sells original artist prints (starting at $20 for an 8 x 10).

Vogue JUL07 by Lauren DiCioccio

Prospect Park 2 by Joseph O. Holmes

i have always stuck to framing my art (all and any art) in a basic black frame with black mats, but have been obsessed for some time with these frames. . . white on white matting and wood grain on white matting. . .

(as seen in domino via here)

just need to man up and change my habits, i guess

11 May 2009

oh deer!

for a gal who grew up in the backwoods of Pennsylvania, a deer head is such a reminder of days gone by. how many friends and crushes (luckily no loves) were obsessed with hunting season???

this is a much more posh, sophisticated version of lodge decor. it would look gorgeous on a grass green wall.

iKat!!!!!

i had to--even though there is no color involved and the hole is NOT big enough for my arm to fit through. . .i needed something ikat. so here it is! cheap too

where the magic happens

my love for bedroom decor is unending. i love dreamy colors and fabrics that invoke inner peace--everything my current bedroom is not. i have been waffling btw a pale robins egg blue room (The wall color is Spring Mint, and the trim is Light Touch, both by Benjamin Moore) -- a la . . .

and an off-white/white room . . .

the bedroom is leaning towards blue based on currently owned linens and rugs. . but i just can't get over the off-white statement and the curtain/mirror combo is to die for!
